Kim Earnest's Story
I fell in love in the late summer before my junior year and as soon as school was over I got married. My husband left for the military just before school started for our senior year. I went 10 weeks and left to join him where he was stationed. I stayed out of school that year and returned to high school at our permanent base in Goldsboro, NC and graduated in 1971. In November 1972 we left for a tour in South Korea. We come back with a Korean baby! She is 35 years old now and a doctor, married to a doctor. I had a son in 1975. He's been in the Marine Corp for 13 years but unfortunately between Afghanistan and Iraq he suffered a combat related injury so he was medically retired out just this month. He's doing just fine. He works, is married with 2 children.
I was divorced in 1988 and am single. I went to college in my 40s while working full time and graduated magna cum laude. I am a paralegal in a large law firm downtown.
I have lived a good life. Just wish now I had someone to share these "golden" years with.
